So it's finally spring. This was always the time when the upper class men started complaining about senioritis. Back in my naive days, I could never understand what they were complaining about. Now that I'm a senior I am personally feeling it full force.
The first sign that started showing was my lack of ambition to do any homework at all. Now that sign probably started showing up around the beginning of the year. But as the year goes on and G day approaches, it's getting harder for me to even open my bag at night. And even when i get it open it takes a lot of effort to take my books out.
Another sign that senioritis is in full effect is the fact that it is getting very hard to pay attention in class. I rarely could tell you what went on during class because I am so out of focus. Especially the classes where i sit near windows. The nice weather just fuels that fire that is my negligence towards school. This also means that I do less work in class which then just adds to the problem of not wanting to do homework.
The last sign I am going to talk about is probably my parents less favorite. In all three years before this one I have only gotten in trouble and received a detention once my freshman year. This year in the last month or so, I have received two detentions within two weeks of each other. While I feel I shouldn't have received either of these punishments, it just shows that I am full of senioritis and just want to be done with school.
So when people ask me if I have senioritis I regretfully reply, "Yes I do." Back when I was younger, I never thought I would ever complain about it. But as the end of high school is fast approaching, I have been hit hard by this disease that all kids will eventually catch. The fact that I have my college plans finally decided just ads to the necessity for school to be over. But until that day, I guess I will just have to fight through the pain.

Spring Break
Spring break is supposed to be a time for kids to get away from school and just relax. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. After just a couple of days of rest it was back to the class room for me. Instead of going to California with friends I stayed home all break to take a class to become a certified lifeguard.
My first problem with this class was the location. Since I was very late to sign up, there were not many open classes around the area. So everyday I would have to drive to the Riverfront YMCA in downtown Des Moines. Included with this long, gas-waisting, is the fact that I was driving there during morning rush hour. Oh the joys of driving at 20 miles an hour in a 65 zone.
Problem number 2 came with the hours of the class. The class itself started at 8:30 in the morning. So this meant that I had to get up at 7 just to make sure I was on the road by 7:30. This was sometimes difficult since I was taking the class with my cousin and he would not arrive at my house until 7:45 on some days. The class lasted the entire day until around 4:3o in the afternoon. The schedule usually went as follows: Classroom work from 8:30 to around noon, an hour break for lunch, in the pool from 1 until around 3, then more class room work for the rest of the day. The classroom work was by far the worst part. Hours of boring videos, lame diagrams, and reading that almost always put you to sleep.
But there were some positives to taking the class. First off it certified me in all necessary fields to become a lifeguard. This puts me one step closer to getting the perfect summer job. Secondly the class was full of some interesting people. Some of them were normal cool people who were easy to get along with but some were just plain weird. There was a girl in the class who looked like she was 13 years old but turned out to be 25 and crazy. To make matters more interesting we found out later in the week that she had a kid. The instructors were really cool as well. They joked around all the time and kept us from spacing off too much.
Overall it wasn't my ideal spring break, but it wasn't the worst either. I wish I had gotten a chance to take a trip somewhere with my friends, but those plans never worked out. But at least I got my classes out of the way instead of sitting around at home all day doing nothing. Now all that is left is to hopefully become a lifeguard at a nice pool. So far though I have heard no response to my applications. Oh well I guess all I can do is wait.

Here Comes Spring!
So since all the snow is beginning to melt and the temperature is constantly above freezing, what better topic to write about then spring time. What's so great about spring you may ask? Many things actually. So in todays blog i've decided to talk about some of the many benefits that come along with spring.
One of the first benefits is obvious. Spring Break! And it couldn't come at a better time. As the weather begins to warm and the mountains of snow begin to melt, kids begin to lose focus in school after about five minutes of class. It also gives parents a week to go on vacation and not have to worry about their kids missing to much school. But the kids aren't the only ones who need a break. Every year, ecspecially this year, it seems the teachers need the break just as much if not more than the students.
Another big bonus to spring time is the warmer weather. Warmer weather makes everyone happy. If you love to run, like myself, you get tired of running around an indoor track very fast. With the warmer weather your able to get back outside in the fresh air for a nice run. I know it puts me in a better mood.
The third benefit is NO MORE SNOW! Finally we are done with those out of nowhere blizzards that have been happening very frequently around here this year. Just a week ago there were piles of snow almost as tall as me in our yard. Fortunately the constant warm weather lately has shrunken them down to a much smaller sides. And I know that i'm not the only one happy about the end of snow. I think the school was beginning to panic about all the snow days we've had lately. To bad for all the under classmmen who have to make up all those days. Tough luck.
So there are just some of the benefits to spring time. I know there are tons of others such as Saint Patricks Day, Easter, and all that fun stuff. But to me, those are the three biggest parts of spring to me. With spring on the way, there's only one season left until the best season of the year. Summer! I have a feeling this summer is going to be totally awesome.

Keep your hands off my momma, and my doritos!
Sundays usually suck. But there is one Sunday in Febuary that almost everyone loves. Superbowl Sundy! All over the nation people throw giant parties for the last NFL game of the season. But besides watching the game, people love to watch the commercials. And with companies dishing out millions of dollars for just a few seconds, they better hope people are watching them. This year I really enjoyed the commercials, which is why I will talk about my 4 favorite ones in this blog.
Number 4 on my list would have to be the Etrade baby. Though it wasn't as funny as the original but it's still very funny. At least the one I saw was. I think there was two of them but I only saw the one with the baby and his friends.
Number 3 would have to go to the doritos commercial with the dog who puts the shock coller on the guy. At first I thought it was pretty stupid but by the end for some reason I liked it. Doritos had a hot streak with commercials this year during the Superbowl. 3 of my 4 favorite commercials were doritos. They know how to make people laugh.
Number 2 was the doritos commercial in the gym. It started off slow and looked like it was going to be stupid. But when the guy got hit with the dorito in the neck it got interesting. Then seeing the crazy guy in the doritos ninja suit was pretty funny. A suit made out of doritos would be pretty awesome.
My favorite commercial during the superbowl this year would has to go to the little black kid and his doritos. The way he slapped that guy was hilarious. For some reason the kid reminded me of Ronnie from Role Models. Role Models is one of my favorite movies which is prolly why I loved the commercial so much. Well thats all for now. Just remember....keep your hands off my momma, and my doritos!

The Big Question...
As seniors, we have all heard it a million times. What do you want to do with your life. I for one hate that question. I'm 18 years old. Am I really supposed to have my life already planned out? I mean of course I plan on attending college, but as for the where and what for, I'm still undecided. There are a couple of majors that I have been interested in and researching a lot. And that would happen to be sports medicine or physical therapy.
In the past 5 years I have seriously injured both my knees. In 8th grade I tore my acl in my right knee along with some cartilage. 3 years later I happened to do the exact same thing to my left knee. I know what your thinking, I must have the worst luck ever. But I blame it more on genetics from my dad's side of the family. Anyways with torn acls comes a lot of physical therapy. After going through all that and seeing what their job was like, I became interested. I began to think that this may be something i could see myself doing in the future. I already have a lot of first hand experience in the subject so why not? Now since that is what I may be looking at majoring in, I began to look at colleges that had those fields. I am currently focusing on 2 main school, the University of Northern Iowa, and Iowa State University.
Iowa State has always been my favorite college in terms of sports. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been raised to be a cyclone fan. So Iowa State has that homey feeling for me. I already know a lot of the campus from past visits for various reasons such as sporting events and visiting friends. Looking at classes, they do have the field in which I am looking at. Another positive for Iowa State would be the fact that it is very close to home. If i needed to come back for any reason, it wouldn't be a problem at all. One negative about it though may be its class size. Some classes have hundreds of students in it and you lose that sense of close teaching that you get in highschool.
The University of Northern Iowa also specializes in the field I am looking into. My brother is currently a student at UNI so I have a lot of personal first hand experience on that campus as well. I have been there a lot and I must say that I do like the atmosphere around Ceder Falls. It's a big enough school and town that you won't get bored all the time, but still small enough to give you that homey feeling. The class sizes are much smaller than at Iowa States and most classes only have about 20 kids in them. That's something I would greatly enjoy. But as for which school I will be attending, that decision is still up in the air.
So for all those people who are wondering what I am going to do with my life after highschool, there's a little insight in to what may be in the future for me. I wish it was still as easy to answer as when I was little, but unfortunately, I think my chances of becoming an astronaut are very slim. Hmmm maybe I could still be a fireman though. I don't know it looks like I'm just going to have to wait and see how it all turns out. Whatever I become or decide to do, I'm going to make sure it's something I truely enjoy. As long as it's something I love, I know I'll be happy.

Gotta Love Christmas Break
So sitting here trying to think about what exciting story I could tell you about i realized...my Christmas break was actually really lame. Though there were some fun things I did, most of it involved akward family christmases. You know the kind where relatives you barely even know come over and give you big hugs and tell stories about when you were a teeny little baby. Then of course there are the cousins that just annoy the crap out of you. But luckily they didn't make the drive out from Nebraska this year, thank God! But since there were a few good things over the long break, I guess I'll tell you about them.
First of all, there are the gifts. Lets be honest, if it weren't for the gifts Christmas would just be another ordinary boring holiday. My parents stuck to the basics when it came to Christmas shopping for me. A couple Xbox games and a lot of money, which is completely fine by me. Money is always a great gift to make someone happy. But this year was somewhat different. Since I had a job this summer, I was actually able to afford to buy my family gifts. So i was pretty proud of myself for that.
With all the spare time during the break, I was able to go to a couple of movies. With all the hype about the new James Cameron movie, Avatar, I automatically had to go see it. And I must say that I was pretty impressed with it. It had a good storyline and all the C.G. made for a great movie. One thing I didn't like about it though was the length. A two and a half hour movie is a little long for my taste.
The other movie I got to see during break was Sherlock Holmes. Now that is my kind of movie. Ever since Iron Man, I have been a big fan of Robert Downy Jr. So I went into this movie with big expectations. I was not dissapointed. The storyline was very well put together and the acting was great. It really made you do a lot of thinking throughout the entire movie. Over all I'd give it four stars.
But most of my break consisted of hanging out with my friends. The only bad thing was that there was never anything to do. Since there were a lot of people with their families or on vacation, we usually ended up sitting around watching t.v. or playing video games. Exciting I know. Speaking of video games, my parents have officially become Wii obsessed. We got one as a family christmas present and I don't think they have gone one night since without playing. As I am writing this, one of them is bowling in the next room. It gets kind of annoying but at least they found something better to do than bother me all the time.
So that's pretty much it for this blog. I hope it hasn't bored you to much. As I wrote this I'm pretty sure I've become depressed over how uneventful my life really is. High school sucks and hopefully college is ten times better. But I'll save that for another blog.
